Most recently, Prof. Dr. Ho Thi Thanh Van was honored to receive the Third Prize out of 44 projects awarded the Ho Chi Minh City Innovation Award with the research project: Manufacturing fuel cells (DMFC) operating at low temperatures; using new multifunctional nanomaterials as catalysts to improve battery performance

Assoc. Dr. Ho Thi Thanh Van was awarded the Third Prize of the Ho Chi Minh City Innovation Award by the People's Committee of Ho Chi Minh City

In 2019, Assoc. Dr. Van cooperated with the University to build a doctoral training cooperation program between HCMUNRE and Mordoch University, Australia, awarded by Murdoch School of Australia, with a full tuition support program for 3.5 years of PhD and 10 scholarships. During the week of IELTS study at Murdoch University, the instructors included professors from HCMUNRE and Murdoch.
With the contributions to training and scientific research in the past time, in 219, Assoc.Prof.Dr. Ho Thi Thanh Van won the Vietnam Outstanding Female Scientist Award 2019 by L'oreal and Unesco in 2019 and was honored with the Top 23/100 Outstanding Scientists in Asia 2020 voted by Asian Science magazine.

Typical scientific and technological works are Research on synthesizing Pt-Mo alloy nanocatalysts on Ti0.8W0,2O2 nanomaterials to improve CO poisoning tolerance and reduce costs in fuel cells for direct use. methanol - a renewable form of energy to improve CO poisoning tolerance and reduce costs for fuel cells that use methanol directly as a form of renewable energy. This research direction will bring practical benefits in the widespread use of fuel cells, to replace fossil fuels and reduce global warming due to CO2 emissions, thereby responding to ongoing climate change. increasingly serious globally.Typical scientific and technological works are Research on synthesizing Pt-Mo alloy nanocatalysts on Ti0.8W0,2O2 nanomaterials to improve CO poisoning tolerance and reduce costs in fuel cells for direct use. methanol - a renewable form of energy to improve CO poisoning tolerance and reduce costs for fuel cells that use methanol directly as a form of renewable energy.                The Minister of Natural Resources and Environment increased the Certificate of Merit from the Minister of Natural Resources and Environment for outstanding achievements in scientific research to Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ho Thi Thanh Van June 6, 2020

With the above results, Assoc.Prof Ho Thi Thanh Van also overcame many difficulties in terms of limited research in Vietnam, but perhaps her enthusiasm and concerns for the country's science and technology and training young Vietnamese generations have good knowledge and ability. Creativity, scientific research helped her overcome all difficulties and determined to follow her chosen path with enthusiasm, She shared “Currently, research conditions and environment in Vietnam are still difficult. Returning to teaching and research in the field of fuel cells, even though I had previously studied abroad, I myself encountered many obstacles. The first difficulty is the lack of funding and laboratory equipment, modern analytical techniques for new research directions. Some chemicals used for the synthesis of materials must be ordered, many modern measurement and analysis methods must be sent to universities and research institutes abroad. In addition, the model of research groups and the really undeveloped teamwork skills in Vietnam are also certain barriers in scientific research. Along with that is the problem of human resources for scientific research. In the context that Vietnam's per capita income is still low, many people (despite having a passion for science) still have to give up because of the burden of food and money. Therefore, scientists have to make many sacrifices. Every time I encounter difficulties, I tell myself to try harder because if I give up, Vietnam will not be able to develop new research directions, it will be difficult to integrate, and catch up with the development trend of science and technology of the country. economic as well as unable to train and communicate results for the young generations in the country to approach and learn. With that in mind, I was determined to overcome all challenges to be able to realize my passionate concerns for scientific research. I have a belief that, if you are passionate, enthusiastic and try to explore, cultivate and learn, all scientific doors will open and become wider.
